    Leading from Behind

February is about love and red roses. That’s why I picked this painting. These red roses and white daisies are surrounded with a lot of love, like best friends and lovers, they make us look better.

The supporting flowers in this bouquet consist of short strokes, blurred lines. They fade into the background, so the focal point catches the eye of the viewer.

As I studied this picture as to what could be said in a spiritual lesson, I thought about when I stepped down from leadership two years ago—being in the spotlight, in front of the writers. The Lord was saying to me, “Lead from behind, step down, don’t step away. Recede into the background. You’re still in the picture. You’re still supporting the picture but you’re no longer the engine that is making this group run.”

How does one lead from behind? By praying for those who are leading and supporting the endeavors and ideas and helping where you can.

There is a day when it’s time to let go of the spotlight and be there for others. It’s freeing to be unimportant. And yet, my prayers for those in charge produces more freedom for them. Don’t feel left out but emboldened to help those be what they are striving to become. You’ve already been there. You have new places to go in this next season and new pictures to be in.

    Be inspired.
