God writes his messages in the stars

Have you ever thought how God talks to us in the sky? I’ve painted ultramarine blues over Colorado, cobalt blues in New Mexico skies, and hot cerulean with ocher in Arizona skies. All different palettes and new messages every day. God always shows up, if we look up or not.

Paraphrasing Psalm 19, God writes his messages in the stars. Space itself speaks his story every day… His truth is on tour in the starry vault of the sky…Each day gushes out its message to the next…night after night whispers its knowledge to all…The gospel is clearly read in vibrant colors, displaying God's glory.

These quick small watercolors on 300# paper, (9X12”), bring back memories of a time when I spent an artist vacation on Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine.

Monhegan is a small, rocky island ten miles from the nearest mainland. A square mile in area, the island is accessible only by boat, and is a walking island with only one vehicle, a delivery truck. This artists’ colony remains the same since Norman Rockwell, Robert Henri, and Andrew Wyeth painted there. Nothing has changed on the island, but nature paints a new story every day.

I am working on Book Two in the Disappointment Valley Series and also starting a new devotional-study-journal this year. One thing I know for sure, the gospel stays the same as daily trials come and stir things up. We can sleep well at night even though we are changing and times are changing.
